BUD/S PST Calculator

Enter your five Navy PST numbers: swim, push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, and run. Navy SEAL candidates take this screening test before BUD/S. This PST calculator scores each one against the BUD/S minimum and the competitive line, then gives you a scorecard to share.

The standards

EventMinimumCompetitive
500-yard swim12:309:30
Push-ups (2 min)5075+
Sit-ups (2 min)5075+
Pull-ups (no time limit)1015+
1.5-mile run10:309:30

Minimum gets you in the door. Competitive has you prepared. Both columns come from the Navy: the minimums are the SEAL PST standard in MILPERSMAN 1220-410 (December 2021), and the competitive line is the Elevated Physical Screening Test (EPST) standard on navy.com. Full detail in the PST standards entry.

Candidates also compare one combined number, the PST Matrix score. Swim seconds plus run seconds, minus push-ups, minus sit-ups, minus six times pull-ups. Lower is better. The pstcalc.com calculator (read 2026-09-22) grades enlisted SEAL candidates Good at 900 or under and officers at 790 or under; over 1220 fails. That formula comes from the calculators, not from the MILPERSMAN standard, so treat it as a comparison tool, not a requirement.

Close the gap

ZeroPhase turns the 26-week NSW training guide into a daily program that tracks every PST and adjusts the plan to your numbers.

For anyone training toward the SEAL PST, from first-timers to candidates re-testing. Not a substitute for an official proctored test, and not a measure of overall BUD/S readiness.

Still choosing what to train with? The BUD/S prep app comparison puts this plan next to the apps and programs the AI engines name, each fact with its own source and the date we read it.
